TAMOXIFEN - ORAL

USES: Nolvadex (Tamoxifen) is a drug that blocks the action of the hormone estrogen. It is used in the treatment of breast cancer in women.

HOW TO USE: Take this drug by mouth exactly as prescribed for the full treatment period.

SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, hot flashes, weight gain or headache may occur. If these effects persist
or worsen, notify your doctor promptly.
Report promptly: abnormal vaginal bleeding or irregular periods, vaginal discharge, groin pain, vision changes.

Unlikely but report promptly: vomiting, rash. Very unlikely but report promptly: dark urine, yellowing eyes and skin, easy bruising, persistent sore throat, fever, mental or mood changes, trouble breathing, unusual tiredness, leg pain or swelling.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: eye problems, blood disorders, cancers, liver disease, allergies (especially drug allergies).

Use reliable birth control (e.g., proven barrier methods) during treatment and for at least two months after treatment. Consult your doctor or pharmacist.

This drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using this drug.

It is not known if this drug is excreted into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include shakiness and dizziness.

NOTES: Keep all doctor and lab visits because it is important you have your progress monitored.

MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture.
